Shinzo Nakanishi retires from the company on 31 March after 30 years of association with Maruti

After being associated with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd for over 30 years, its managing director and chief executive Shinzo Nakanishiwill retire from the company on 31 March, the company said in a statement on Friday.
Nakanishi will be replaced by Kenichi Ayukawa who was serving as director on the board of Maruti Suzuki.
Nakanish, who was instrumental in setting up Maruti Suzuki in a joint venture with the Indian government in 1983, succeeded Jagdish Khattar as head of the company in 2007. Under him, the company diversified its product portfolio and ventured into sedans and utility vehicles.
In recent years, the company has been beset by labour trouble. The firm had a revenue loss of overRs.5,000 crore due to labour unrest in the last two years.
A senior company official was killed in mob violence at its plant in Manesar in July 2012. Nakanishi described the incident as “a blot on his career”.
