சர்க்கரை ஆலைகளுக்கு ரூ. 7,200 கோடி வட்டியில்லா கடன் -

சர்க்கரை ஆலைகளுக்கு ரூ. 7,200 கோடிக்கு வட்டியில்லா கடன் அளிக்கப்பட உள்ளது. இதற்கு மத்திய அமைச்சர்கள் குழு ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளதாக மத்திய வேளாண் அமைச்சர் சரத் பவார் தெரிவித்தார்.

கரும்பு ஆலைகளுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட வங்கிக் கடன் தொடர்பாக ஆராயுமாறு பிரதமர் மன்மோகன் சிங் ஒரு குழுவை அமைத்திருந்தார். ரிசர்வ் வங்கி வகுத்தளித்த ஆலோசனையின் பேரில் இக்குழு அமைக்கப்பட்டது.

இதுகுறித்து மத்திய அமைச்சர்கள் குழு ஆலோசித்தது. இதன்படி ஆலைகள் 12 சதவீத வட்டியில்லாத கடனை வங்கிளில் பெறலாம். இதற்கென ரூ. 7,200 கோடி ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதன் மூலம் ஆலைகளுக்கு கரும்பு அளித்த விவசாயிகளுக்கு பணத்தை அளிக்க முடியும் என்று பவார் தெரிவித்தார்.

மேலும் 40 லட்சம் டன் கச்சா சர்க்கரை வரை உற்பத்தி செய்ய ஆலைகளுக்கு ஊக்கத் தொகை அளிக்கப்படும் என்றும், எத்தனால் உற்பத்தியை இரண்டு மடங்கு உயர்த்த வேண்டும் என்றும் பவார் கூறினார்.

இறக்குமதி செய்யப்படும் சர்க்கரை மீதான சுங்க வரியை உயர்த்துவதை பிரதமர் அமைத்த குழு ஏற்கவில்லை.

தற்போது நிதி நெருக்கடியில் சிக்கித் தவிக்கும் சர்க்கரை ஆலைகளை மீட்பது தொடர்பான அறிவிப்புகளை பவார் வெளியிட்டார். இதன்படி வங்கிகள் ரூ. 7,200 கோடியை கரும்பு ஆலைகளுக்கு 12 சதவீத வட்டியில் அளிக்கும். இந்த வட்டித் தொகையில் 7 சதவீதம் கரும்பு மேம்பாட்டு நிதியத்திலிருந்து வங்கிளுக்கு அளிக்க்பபடும். எஞ்சிய 5 சதவீத வட்டியை மத்திய அரசு அளிக்கும் என்று பவார் கூறினார்.

ஆலைகள் பெறப்படும் கடன் தொகையை விவசாயிகளுக்குத்தான் கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்ற உறுதிமொழியின் பேரில் வங்கிகள் அளிக்க வேண்டும்.

இவ்விதம் பெறப்படும் கடனை 5 ஆண்டுகளுக்குள் ஆலைகள் திரும்பச் செலுத்த வேண்டும்.

அமைச்சர்கள் குழு எடுத்த முடிவு குறித்து மத்திய அமைச்சரவை குழு இரு வாரங்களில் கூடி இறுதி முடிவை எடுக்கும் என்று பவார் செய்தியாளர்களிடம் கூறினார்.

இந்த கூட்டத்தில் மத்திய நிதி அமைச்சர் ப. சிதம்பரம், பெட்ரோலியத்துறை அமைச்சர் வீரப்ப மொய்லி, உணவுத்துறை அமைச்சர் கே.வி. தாமஸ், மத்திய விமான போக்குவரத்துத்துறை அமைச்சர் அஜீத் சிங் ஆகியோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

உத்தரப் பிரதேசம், மகாராஷ்டிரம், கர்நாடக மாநில முதல்வர்கள் இக்கூட்டத்தில் பங்கேற்றனர். தமிழகம் சார்பில் மாநில தலைமைச் செயலர் ஷீலா பாலகிருஷ்ணன் கலந்து கொண்டார்.

பெட்ரோலுடன் எத்தனால் கலப்பது இப்போது அதிகரித்துள்ளது. பெட்ரோலுடன் இப்போது 5 சதவீதம் எத்தனால் கலக்கப்படுகிறது. இதை 10 சதவீதமாக உயர்த்த வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கை வந்தது. இதை அமைச்சர்கள் குழு ஏற்றுக் கொண்டதாக பவார் கூறினார்.

சர்க்கரை ஆலைகள் மற்றும் பெட்ரோல் விற்பனை நிறுவனங்கள் இடையே ஒருங்கிணைப்பை ஏற்படுத்த துறை ரீதியிலான ஒரு குழு அமைக்கப்படும் என்று பவார் கூறினார். உற்பத்தி விலை அதிகரித்ததால் சர்க்கரை ஆலைகள் கடுமையான நிதி நெருக்கடிக்கு ஆளாயின.

மேலும் சர்க்கரை விலை வீழ்ச்சியடைந்ததால், கரும்பு பயிரிடும் விவசாயிகளுக்கு ரூ. 3,400 கோடி பாக்கி உள்ளது.

சர்க்கரை ஆலை பங்கு விலை அதிகரிப்பு

சர்க்கரை ஆலைகளுக்கு வட்டியில்லா கடன் அளிக்கப்படும் என மத்திய அமைச்சர் சரத் பவார் அறிவித்ததைத் தொடர்ந்து சர்க்கரை ஆலை நிறுவனப் பங்கு விலைகள் 10 சதவீதம் வரை மும்பை பங்குச் சந்தையில் உயர்ந்தது.

சக்தி சுகர்ஸ் நிறுவன பங்கு விலை 10.39 சதவீதமும், பஜாஜ் ஹிந்துஸ்தான் பங்கு விலை 5.46 சதவீதமும் உயர்ந்தன. துவாரகேஷ் பங்கு விலை 5 சதவீதமும், மாவ்னா சுகர் மில் 4.98 சதவீதமும், தம்பூர் சுகர் 4.96 சதவீதமும்,  ரேணுகா சுகர்ஸ் 4.27 சதவீதமும், பல்ராம்பூர் சீனி மில்ஸ் விலை 2.56 சதவீதமும் உயர்ந்தன.

தொழில்துறையினர் வரவேற்பு

மத்திய அமைச்சர் அறிவித்துள்ள பல்வேறு சலுகைகளை இந்திய சர்க்கரை ஆலைகள் சங்கம் (ஐஎஸ்எம்ஏ) வரவேற்றுள்ளது. இந்த வட்டியில்லாக் கடன் மூலம் விவசாயிகளுக்கு அளிக்க வேண்டிய பாக்கித் தொகையை முழுவதுமாக அளித்து விட முடியும் என்று சங்கத்தின் இயக்குநர் ஜெனரல் அவினாஷ் வர்மா தெரிவித்தார்.

மேலும் கச்சா சர்க்கரையை உற்பத்தி செய்யும் புதிய உத்திக்கு ஆலைகள் தள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது வரவேற்புக்குரியது. வருவாய் பகிர்வு திட்டம் மூலம் இந்தப் பிரச்சினைக்கு நீண்ட கால அடிப்படையில் தீர்வு காணப்பட வேண்டும் என்று அவர் கூறினார். 

Bharti Airtel sacks group CIO Jai Menon for alleged code of conduct violations

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel Ltd. has sacked Jai Menon, group CIO and the company's director of global innovation & IT, for alleged code of conduct violations, multiple people familiar with the matter said.

"During an internal investigation, it was found that Menon had economic interests in some of the companies which were awarded (third party vendor) contracts," one of people told ET.

Spokesperson for the company, India's largest and the world's fourth largest mobile phone operator, confirmed Menon's exit, but didn't specify the reasons. Menon called the allegations "baseless" and denied that he had been asked to leave. He said that his exit from the company "sometime" earlier this month had been on the cards for a while.

"As I turn 50 in January, I have decided to move on after a wonderful and rewarding stint with Bharti. This has been part of my life plan to allow me to get back closer to deep-tech and research - from operations to creative innovation. All other rumours are speculative and baseless," Menon said in an e-mail. "I hope this puts to rest for good any speculation whatsoever."

However, a second person in the know of things said Menon's office was sealed on December 3 and he was asked to leave.

Menon joined Bharti AirtelBSE -0.98 % in 2002 and, in his latest position, was responsible for overseeing the entire network operations of the company, which included awarding contracts to various IT companies.

According to people familiar with the development, contracts for third party vendor outsourcing were allegedly given to certain select companies on Menon's directions.

Airtel has launched a full-fledged investigation into the matter, the people said.

Menon has had a stellar academic as well as a professional career and is considered a pioneer of the model of outsourcing network followed by Bharti Airtel, and then replicated by most in the industry in India and across the world.

Having completed his graduation in mechanical engineering from IIT Delhi, he did his Masters and Doctorate, both in computer science, from the reputed Cornell University in the US.

He started his career in March 1992 at IBM's T. J. Watson Research Labs, before rising up the ranks to become the executive director at the company's software group. He next did a two-year stint at AT&T, also in the US, rising to the position of executive vice president & corporate officer, product innovation (marketing). He quit the company in 2002 to return to India and join Bharti Airtel.

All-India bank strike on Dec 18

The United Forum of Bank Unions, an umbrella organisation of bank officers’ and employees’ unions, will go on an all-India strike on December 18 to press for a halt to the ongoing banking reforms and immediate wage revision in the banking sector

.

In a press statement, State Banks’ Staff Union (Kerala Circle) said that the last five-yearly bipartite wage settlement had run out more than a year back but the Indian Banks’ Association had not taken steps for the overdue settlement.

The union pointed out that the workload of bank staffers had gone up enormously across the industry and the cost of living too had risen, necessitating substantial increase in pay and allowances.

It also noted that the Government had recently introduced a series of reforms in public sector banks many of which were aimed at privatising them. The banking regulations, it said, had safeguarded the banking system from collapse even as several major banks in other countries folded up during the global economic crisis.

The Government was now trying to water down these regulations. The December 18 strike is part of the unions’ resistance to the reforms.

Kalam was invited by Raja Ramanna to witness the country's first nuclear test Smiling Buddha as the representative of TBRL, even though he had not participated in the development, test site preparation and weapon designing. In the 1970s, a landmark was achieved by ISRO when the locally built Rohini-1 was launched into space, using the SLV rocket.

 In the 1970s, Kalam also directed two projects, namely, Project Devil and Project Valiant , which sought to develop ballistic missiles from the technology of the successful SLV programme.
